About me
Hey there! I'm Steven, and I'm glad you've stopped by.
I've always been an outdoors person at heart—growing up loving nothing more than hitting the trails, pitching a tent under the stars, and chasing the thrill of discovering new places. Those early adventures sparked a deep appreciation for nature: the quiet hush of a forest, the rush of uncovering hidden spots, the simple joy of being immersed in the world.
In my adult life, I've woven that passion together with photography, starting by bringing a camera along on my explorations. Landscape and wildlife photography became my focus—I love capturing expansive, untouched scenes, the intimate behaviors of animals in their element (like a mama bear and her cub at Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge), and those fleeting moments that highlight the beauty and fragility of our wild spaces. The North Carolina mountains, especially the Blue Ridge Parkway, have become a huge inspiration for me: winding along those scenic roads, pulling over at overlooks for misty layered ridges at dawn, hiking to panoramic vistas, or just feeling the quiet power of the peaks. It's unbeatable—the play of light on distant blues, the texture of wildflowers and forests, the raw energy that makes you feel alive.
More recently, I've added street photography to the mix, stepping from remote wilderness into the pulse of city streets in Raleigh and beyond. It's a different kind of discovery: candid glimpses of human life, light slicing through urban shadows, unexpected stories in motion. It keeps things fresh while still fueling that drive to explore and capture what's real.
Wherever I'm shooting—framing a sunrise over rolling ridges on the Parkway, waiting patiently for wildlife, or wandering Raleigh's neighborhoods—my style is straightforward and authentic: natural light, candid moments, and a focus on emotion, atmosphere, and the details that draw you in. I want the photos to transport you to that sense of wonder, whether it's the calm of high-elevation views or the buzz of everyday scenes.
When I'm not behind the lens, I'm usually planning the next outing, editing with a coffee in hand, or letting a new trail or overlook spark ideas. Those escapes, especially to the Blue Ridge, keep my creativity alive and remind me why this matters.
Based in Raleigh, North Carolina (with the mountains just a drive away), I'm excited to connect with fellow explorers, nature enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates visual stories from wild peaks or lively streets. If you're after landscape prints that capture the soul of the NC mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway, striking wildlife images, gritty street moments, or help turning your own outdoor experiences into photos, I'd love to hear from you.
Reach out—let's talk about trails, overlooks, light, and turning those discoveries into images worth treasuring.
